Hi all...have a question,
How do you control which Blocks show up on what page?
For Example "How would i control which blocks show up on my Front page?"
I know that you select blocks on the Structure -- blocks -- edit page...you see a list of all created pages and next to it....a list of blocks which are active/disabled for the Whole site
...but not "which Blocks are active for each individual page."
How do you control which Blocks show up on what page?
thanks very much for your Help!

wow....no one can answer this question?
I think from playing around with the site....the Content section controls what goes each page.
Anyone?

Edit the block you wish to control. Find "Show Block on Specific Pages". Enter the path to the page there. Choose either All pages except those listed or Only the listed pages Notice the path instructions. Be sure the block is set to display in the correct region.

Jeff,
I don't see where you get to the page you are refering "show block on specific pages?"
Do you know the steps to get there?

Click Structure on the Admin Menu Bar, then select Blocks. Find the block you wish to use and select Configure.
If you are not familiar with this and you really want to learn Drupal and Drupal Gardens you might consider investing a few hours in a training course.

Thanks Jeff,...that's a little more detail than your previous post.
:)
Apparently you can promote pages to the front using both the "Content and Blocks" commands.
Is this correct?
PS. i have the lynda series on DG. Its a very discursive lecture if you want to know.
thanks again!

There really is no content or block command. There is content and there are blocks, both of which can be placed in various regions. Yes, content can be promoted to the front page and blocks can be configured to display on the front page. It's hard to explain this in a few sentences.
If you understand blocks and regions you will be on your way to beginning to understand Drupal Gardens and Drupal 7. For the most part, they are the same thing. The real difference is that DG is a preconfigured version that does not allow you to add additional modules. The benifit is that you don't need to worry about maintaining the Drupal code.
PS. I have the Tom Geller DG course as well. I still review it from time to time. There is always something new to learn.

Thanks J,
Perhaps i am using the wrong venacular. Using Content or Block Controls (shall we say) will both allow you to manipulate "blocks" into areas that the user can designate....Correct?
Appreciate it my Man.
I learn a little more each day.
Now what about Views? (lol)

PS. Yes...in reviewing the Geller series i have learned from it too. Its a decent series...but could be done better IMO. Seems like he rushed the DG series...and could have spread it out and gotten way more in depth. Oh well...maybe he goes deeper in D7.

Hi constru,
Have you seen our documentation on Blocks? These docs provide a good explanation of what blocks are, and how to use them effectively on your Gardens site.
Your site users would not have access to move the blocks to different regions unless you assigned specific users those kinds of roles and permissions.
In terms of Views, the Gardens Team highly recommends these Views Tutorials from NodeOne.
Hope this info helps!
