Hello,
I really need more fine-grain control of content privacy than the current setup. The Node Privacy by Role module would do the job nicely. Not sure if there are others ready for D7.
Any update on the road map for privacy/view controls by node, content type, and/or role?
Thanks so much!

Hi Joe,
Access control is definitely still on the roadmap - we had been focused on Webforms, and are now working heavily on Views. Unfortunately I don't have an ETA for you, but it is something we will be adding. Our project for this is #AN-12634 and I've noted your comments there.
Could you explain a bit about your use case for access control? It would help us in deciding which solution to use when the time comes.
As to the alerts, you can change your notification settings under your account at http://drupalgardens.com/user - click the Edit tab and down near the bottom are Comment follow-up notification settings .

I would like to see this also. I'm considering drupal guardens for a site.
At the moment the offering is split between two sites. One for members of the organization in question, and another site for visitors. Quickly adds to the workload.
Ideally I would like to see a solution along the lines of taxonomy access control. Would give an access opportunity for every piece of content. Is this piece supposed to be available for external users, internal users or both? Just choose the right category and you are done.
Got any idea when access control could be available?

Hi Knut,
Thanks for explaining your use case - I've added these notes to AN-12634. Were you thinking each piece of content would have its access controlled by role or by member?
I don't have an ETA for access control to share at the moment - there are a few other major projects on the roadmap ahead of content access, though.
In the meantime, if the content for your visitors is fairly static, perhaps the sites could be combined by presenting that content through blocks with role permissions set?

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm using taxonomy axcess control at the moment (http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_access). For access control I have created 3 different settings
Every piece of content gets one of these categories assigned to it. If a piece of content do not have an category assigned to it then it gets a standard category.
Basically it is just a question of assigning a role to each of the different categories, and you are good to go.
You road map. Is there a copy of it available online? Would be great to see what kind of features we can expect in the future. As for access control. I got time to wait. our contract with the current provided still runs for several more months. So there is no rush. But drupal gardens is an very interesting option. For me the main advantage by going for drupalguardens would be to "get rid of" some of the work I'm doing, and would let me focus on other parts of the site.
For some of the content using blocks could work. But not for most of it I think. A proper access control system would also make it easier for those who upload/write the stuff :)

Great, thank you for the details, Knut. I added them to #AN-12634.
The roadmap isn't currently available directly, but someday we plan to make it so. It changes based on community requests, so posts like this one are very helpful. I can tell you our next major project involves a significant number of enhancements to the ThemeBuilder.

George,
I've written in the past asking for field-level access control and I understand from youy it's on the roadmap. I have a related inquiry which seems to fit this thread. I have a custom content type that I will allow authenticated users to create. I'd like to create a view and expose a block to the user page which only shows the content created by that user. I want that content to be editable by that user but No other user. Perhaps this is already possible but when I create the view and expose the block, with limitations set to "Edit own content", I can ALL the content created instead of just the content for that user.

You got any updates on this issue? Or for that matter, access control in general

Hi everyone,
There's no estimate of an arrival date for access control of this nature yet. I have noted your comments on our project for this feature, though. Thanks for your patience.

Hi there,
Content access control is here!
For Professional Subscription plans or higher, you can now restrict access to your site's content to privileged users. Drupal Gardens provides fine-grained access control to your site’s content using Taxonomy-based access control. You can define access control rules describing which users (by role) can view, edit, or delete content. Then you can apply these access control rules to any content you want.
For more information on what you can do with this feature, please see our latest What's New Release Announcement for the most up-to-date list of feature enhancements and bug fixes.
As usual, Professional-level subscription holders and higher may direct all inquiries to our internal ticketing system.
Thanks!
Best regards,

Hi there,
For Professional plans and higher, you can now have fine-grained access control for forum topics in Drupal Gardens!
As of our latest service update on March 12th, you can define access control rules describing which users (by role) can view, edit, or delete a forum topic. Role indicators can also be applied to forum topics to highlight which topics are restricted.
For more information on the latest Gardens feature enhancements, check out our recent 'What's New' release announcement.
Thanks!
